Sound track problem with mpeg

Used TMPGEnc to break up my divx file into two parts so I could convert then to mpegs and burn VCDs: the file was too large for one VCD. First mpeg plays fine. Second mpeg runs fine for about 6 minutes, and then develops a "broken record" sound track for the rest of the mpeg. Video continues on fine. Discarded the discrepant mpeg, and re-converted the second half again in case there was a hiccup in the first try. Same problem with retry. What's happening here?

You could try to use VirtualDub and frameserver the files top TMPEnc, you can choose to only encode part of the movie, so you can split it up to two.

You open your VDub directory and run "Auxsetup.exe" and press "Install handler" then you restart your computer.

when this is done yu load the file in VDub and choose wher the first part have to end press the "Home" button on your keyboard to select that it is here you want the selection to be cut from, move to the end of the movie and press the "End" button to dselect it is here you want to cut to. press the "Del" button, to delete the section you just selectet.

Press "File-->Start Frame server" and press start on the first window and on the next select what you want your frameserver file to be called, and writ "Filename.VDR" the VDR is very importent otherwise TMPEnc won't be able to know it can use the file.

Load the file you just made in TMPEnc and do what you normally do to make a VCD.

To do the second part of the movie just do as the first part but just selec the beginning of the movie insted of the ending.




TIP: Resize in VDub because it is faster at it than TMPEnc.

Before I read your post, I actually got the second part to work by extracting the WAV file using VirtualDub and then using TMPGEnc to create my mpeg file. I will try your advice to use VDub in the future to split files. However, being a newbie to video manipulation, I find VDub a bit intimidating. There are no instructions.

Works!

Tried VDub to split my videos per the advice of Sneglen. Works great! Much better than hassling with trying to split files with TMPEnc and matching audio tracks. Did a number of videos successfully. Thanks.
