Hi Guys
I am new to this, so i apogise now.
I am trying to convert an AVI file to VCD ( Is that Mpeg1???)
I am using TMPGEnc and after sorting a few problems, when it starts encoding i keep getting an error message saying :

ERROR
-537407731 98704

If i click ok on the dialog box , it comes up with the same error message, but a diffferent number (obviously a different section of the film???)

Yes, VCD is Mpeg1. What do you mean "sorting a few problems"? Were there problems before with the avi file? Does the file play fine in other viewing programs (windows media player)?

Try This

Try using VirtualDub and seperating the audio from the video and them merging them back together using TMPGEnc. You shouldnt have any problems if you do this. Ive been doing it this way now for about a year,a nd have not had any problems..

Yes the AVI file plays fine.
I converted the file using Panasonic Mpeg encoder, but the audio is out of sync.
So i converted the the audio to a .Wav file using Virtualdub ( about a 900mb file )
I have not yet tried encoding it again with the Panasonic Mpeg encoder after i converted the Audio, But i still get the same error message as stated in my post above, when trying to encode using using Tmpgnec

Even if I sort this 'little problem' out, how many disks is the movie going to fit on, as the .wav file alone is, as stated above 900mb

If I convert a 600-700mb avi to a VCD using TMPGEnc, it usually ends up being around 800-900mb as a MPG file. I sometimes buy the 800 MB/90Min cd's and I can fit them on one cd, ( without losing VCD quality ).. Well to answer your question, your 900 mb avi will most likely be around 1000-1100 mb as a mpg. You can then use the tools in TMPGWEnc to split the file in two..

By the way, you can also buy the 890/99 min cd's, VERY few standalone dvd players will be able to pay them..

Well, in some cases, Ive lost a little bit of the video quality. But in others, ( for example, ( Domestic Disturbance and Cyote ugly ) Ive got great quality and it all fits on one cd. The quality is alot better than the normal VCD quality. It all depends on the lenght of the movei I suppose. Its all trial and error. Sometimes ya win,a nd sometimes ya gotta start over with different settings..
