TMPGenc Cut/Join Problem

I converted a 1h30min movie into mpeg-2 format, but i didnt cut it before converting so i got a 1.8gig file that i (obviously) can't make a svcd out of.
Now, im trying to cut it so i can convert it to svcd, but whenever i open tmpgenc and go to Mpeg Tools>Merge & Cut, select my file, then double click on it, it opens fine but as soon as i move the slider to any section of the movie, it freezes, forcing me to close tmpgenc by ctrl+alt+delete. IS there a way to get past this problem, am i doing something wrong?

Have you remembered to select "MPEG2-SuperVideoCD" in the mode box?

Yes i selected "MPEG2-SuperVideoCD", but funny thing, because once i selected the other MPEG2 option (program) and it actually worked for a bit (i could move the slider) but right after it crashed again. What is the other mpeg2 option used for anyway?

For creating MPEG2 videos that will be played ONLY on PCs - NOT on standalone players (The only reason to create SVCDs is for playback on standalone DVDplayers hooked up to televisions).

Ok cool thx man But if you ask me, i think its pretty pointless just to make an mpeg-2 ONLY to watch on your pc. Oh well, its there for a reason

Oh ya, i solved the problem i was having. See, the mpeg that i was trying to cut was already loaded up in tmpgenc for something, it wasnt converting or anything, but anyway all i did was change the loaded movie file that usually stays at the bottom of the tmpgenc screen, and the cutting worked By the way, i know u can fit 35mins on a 650mb vcd, but what about on a 700? Curious as to whether its exactly half of the normal audio capacity. Also, since im talking about my svcd, i cut my movie into 3 parts. 1st and 2nd are 38mins long ~760mb and the 3rd is the remaining 23mins. ~386mb. I was hoping it would fit on 2 cd's, so if would start over and convert the original avi to vcd mpeg-1, would i see that much of a quality difference? The original avi is 592x320 with the XviD video codec and Fraunhofer mpeg-3 audio codec.

Aren't you the same poster thatr posted elsewhere about "KVCD"? If so, why don't you simply use it?

I have yet to check if my dvd player is able to read that format, but since it can svcd/vcd then it probably should.
