    partial TMPGE encoding

I an encoding an .avi XVID file.
It works fine up until around frame
    23000 (out of 87000), then although I
do NOT get an error message with TMPGE,
it appears to continue but the video just
sits there. In other words, the video stops
getting encoded, although it shows that TMPGE is
actually running through the frames, however in the
end only the sound continues in the mpeg file.
    The original .avi seems fine.
Anybody know what this could be?
    Thanks!

That has happened to me a couple of times. It was a bad frame(s) that stopped the video encoding. However, I got a TMPGe error message to that effect. The solution was to encode the parts before and after the bad frame, and let Nero burn them sequentially in order to make a VCD. There was a hiccup in the playback, but it was the only way I knew to salvage the avi file. If you use VDub, it will also stop on the bad frame during preview.

You can also use TMPGen "mpeg tools" to splice the two parts back togather before burning with NERO. This might prevent the noticeable brief gap between the two seperate videos if you let NERO burn them sequentially.
