    SVCD and VCD 2.0: Same Thing?

    hi, i recently got a DVD player, and i notice that it doenst say anything about playing SVCD's but it does mention it can play "VCD 2.0" is this the same thing as SVCD or is it different?
    what advantages does this have over VCD 1.0

          Final FINAL version, or simply final that they can make another version in a while or so? Curious, cause i just got a dvd and also plays vcd 2.0 among others.

              VCD 2.0 is essentially the only conforming version of VCD presently in use - and is NOT the same as SVCD or XVCD.

              What is your point/question regarding your recently purchased player having the ability to play VCD 2.0?
