Encoding with bad frames in video

While try to convert an avi file to mpeg using TMPGen and VDub, the programs get hung up on a bad frame. In the output, the sound continues but the video freezes on the bad frame. The process of finding all the bad frames and cutting and splicing around them (and keeping the audio in sync) is very time consuming. Is there a way of easily fixing the avi file, or to continue video encoding, accepting that there will be glitch in the mpeg playback?
