    no sound in tmpgenc

    Hi,
I'm having a melt down. I just installed windows xp. I've got media player 9. I've been usein Tmpg for a while now with no problems. Now all of a sudden, I've got no sound! I can master the video, but no audio! It wont even play in powerdvd. If i play an old svcd file thats on a cd the audio works. Theres just no audio with newly mastered files. Whats the deal?!
    PLEASE HELP! I'M FREAKIN OUT!!

Post the "file information" of the file you are having trouble converting from virtualdub

I've just got the same problem!
I've not been using tmpgenc in a while, yesterday I downloaded the latest version and made a VCD movie. It plays without sound! There is some sound information, and I can save .wav in VD, but when playing back this .wav file I hear nothing as well.
        Using XP SP1.
The source was a DivX 3 file with mp3 audio stream.
Some bug in the latest tmpgenc?

Before jumping to any (unsubstantiated) conclusions about problems with TMPGEnc, why don't you folks do as batman suggested?

            1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDub or NanDub

            2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

            3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

Chances are quite good that this will bring to light that you're working with a file that contains an audiostream format that needs to be converted...

                is the file format...asf

because the older versions of virtual dub CAN read this file format and u should be able to hear the sound.......
its been taken out of the newer release

"the problem is, im convert a quicktime file. Vdub doesnt support that"

Then load it into the Quicktime Player and post (here) BOTH the "Video" and "Audio" "Format" information that's available from the "Movie" dropdown menu ("Get movie properties")

Do you have the Quicktime plugin for TMPGEnc?

Please post the file information of the files that you were able to succesfully convert with TMPGENc (with audio)

Perhaps copy protection has been improved in newer Quicktime codec/files.

i do have the quicktime plug in and I thought of the copy protect thing too. Im trying to encode QT files that I've already encoded once. I've encoded Qt6 files just fine. This all happened when I wiped my HD and reinstalled windows.

"QDesign Music 2, Stereo, 44.1 kHz, 16 bits"

From within Quicktime, Export the audiostream as a .WAV file
Then delete the audiostream from the video
Save the silent video as "self-contained" with a new filename
Use the silent video and the .WAV audio file in TMPGEnc

                              Let us know of your success ;>}
