    Two problems with that.
    1. more than half of the films "dont allow saving" even with QTpro
    2. iwhen i go to file-export, it'll only let me export the video?

    Am i doing something wrong?

    thanks

Does QT PRO allow you to output to another format such as uncompresed AVI or mpeg?

You might be able to convert the file using screen capture software such as Snag-it or Camtasia.

as far as I know, QT will let me export to AVI, but I cant get the audio out when I convert. And I cant get around that "this movie doesnt allow saving" message.

          "Am i doing something wrong?"

(I'm assuming you have QuickTime Professional - NOT just the free player)

          1) Load the .MOV into Quicktime
          2) Delete the VIDEO track - This will leave only the audio track
          3) EXPORT (NOT SAVE) the audio track (Select "Audio" from the options that appear) as an Uncompressed PCM (.WAV) file
          4) Close Quicktime and re-open it
          5) Once again, load the original .MOV
          6) Delete the AUDIO track
          7) SAVE AS (NOT EXPORT, NOT SAVE) the video-only file. Select "self-contained movie

ALSO, tell me if this means anything: I went to my player opyions and the "sound out" was set to "direct sound". I reset to "wave out". Does that mean anything for converting????

P.S. Just wanted to thanks to you both for ALL your help. A cozy place in heaven is reserved for you both

As I stated parenthetically in a previous post to this thread:

I'm assuming you have QuickTime Professional - NOT just the free player.

Please state whether this assumption is correct...

                            Different Problem

I have a similar problem to the first, except this time it is an .avi file. TMPGEnc has worked great for encoding divx avi's to svcd mpegs. I have one movie that won't let me encode w/ the sound, it says it is not recognizable, is this a audio codec problem??

                              To vx730

The "unknown (Tag 2000) is a reference to .AC3 audio.

In TMPGEnc, under the "Environmental Settings" "VFAPI plugin" tab rightclick on the "Direct Show Multimedia Reader" and increase to the highest priority. This will enable TMPGEnc to accept a properly encoded .AVI with .AC3 audio for input...

(You really should have posted your different question as a new thread. "Piggybacking on other posts leads to confusion)
