How to extract audio from xvid movies like red dragon??

Does anyone know how to extract audio from new xvid movies like red dragon and the ring. Before i used virtualdub, but now i get the message ACM unsupported. When i put the file in tmpgencoder it only show the video source and blank on audio source. If i need new codecs i'm blank, cause i think i got em all, like nimobuilt9, ffdshow, xvid 31/12-02, divxtotalpack and so on.
    PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

Virtualdubmod or Nandub using direct stream copy to extract the ac3 file.

Alternatively, TMPGenc will recognize an ac3 audio file:

      Tmpgencder stops working

Tmpgenc stops working when i changed the priotity of direct show multimedia reader. It works for one movie, then i have to restart the machine. I get the message "Microsoft visual c++ runtime libary" runtime error! Abnormal program termination!

Any way i can avoid restarting each time i convert a movie???

By the way thanx for the tip Batman

Although it most likely is, as suggested by Batman, an AC3 audiostream, you never know. So why don't you use GSpot to read the file's header information and post (here) a screen capture of the information window generated?

          it's ac3 audio

          It's ac3 audio avg bitrate 448 kb/s. Video : Fourcc= xvid . codec= xvid. Status= Codec installed.

Now it seems i cant use tmpgenc at all with direct at highest priority, i get the same error message even though i reinstalled tmpgenc. I'm going crazy here. Please help!!!

Although I find it hard to believe that this error was generated as a direct consequence of simply increasing the priority of the "Direct Show Multimedia Reader", I would ask if you've since tried to simply change the priority back to its previous, lower setting?

                yes i have

Yes i have , and it works fine like it did before, but it doesn't find the audio on the file the ring cd1 when it's at lower priority. And that was really what i was asking for in the first place. I've tried taking a direct stream copy too, but when i pu it in tmpgenc it was unsupported. (i saved the file as avi) perhaps that's wrong, and in virualdub i also on "video" selected direct stream copy, asvel on "audio".???
