    TMPGenc closes for no reason!!!

    please help,

I am using tmpgenc 2.510 plus.

When encoding a captured file from my tv-card:

    352x288@25fps (Pal_B)...

trying to encode it to VCD PAL, just before reaching the end of the file, during encoding, it just closes down the program (tmpgenc) and it seams for no reason...

Please, can anyone help me with this???

Although TMPGenc usually gives an error before shutting down, I would make sure that you have enough hard drive space on the selected drive that you are saving the movie on.
Did you know you can SEARCH the forum? Fixes common problems too:

Also search on the whole Digital-Digest website:

      "When encoding a captured file"

Have you played the original captured file from start to finish without problems?

Try selecting source range. If the end frame lists -1 as the value then this could be why tmpeg is closing. Set the end frame by clicking on default, then move to end frame and finally setting the end frame. A large number should replace the -1. Try encoding again.

          thanks a lot,

that was indeed the problem i had. I selected a source range and the file ewas encoded without any problems.

Will this happen with each conversion-software package? Or is this a specific problem of TMPGenc?

I am thinking about using Ulead Video Studio or DVD workshop for conversion and authoring from now on...

Or is there an even better solution?

            Hello "jochenz"

Well just a thought on how I use my Video card. Try capturing in AVI then a simple conversion from AVI>Mpeg1.

If your TMPEG closes? Sounds to me you are feeding it a unsupported file. It needs to see it with the correct plug-in such as a frameserver. Or the proper codec?
