    loadin an avi file

    hey all im sorry if ima moron, ive gotta avi file that i cant seem 2open the video end of it.
    ive got divx3 & 4 on the pc ( & 'had' 5 but didnt seem 2help) & try 2load the file on media player i only get sound & decomopresser not found.
    used ulead media studio pro 2 convert 2mpg & still only sound w/ a much larger file.
    used dvd2svcd 2convert 2mpg & got a whole bunch of small files.
    it wont load in2 virtualdub or nandub i always get "couldn't locate decompressor for format 'xvid(unknown). which is similar to the preview in the properties tab.

    is any1 willin 2walk me thru or tell me what 2do or where 2go

    do you have the xvid codec? if not, get it in the nimo codec pack, along with any other codec, but dont get the same of each type.

        like say there is an ac3 decoder called .52 standard. and another one called intervideo ac3 decoder. only get one of the two(or more) things. only the divx pro codec in the bundle has adware. nothing else that i know of does.

              Try the Tsunami Filter Pack

              Also try a different player such as BSPlayer

                thx ill give it a try as 4 other players\ utilities virtualdub crashes when loadin avi's, ulead media studio ="illegal op."
                & lists:
                VEDITOR executed an invalid instruction in

                  absolutly NO difference, im i just a moron, should i delete it all & start again. mpeg movies play fine but ulead wont even open, vdub crashes......... this is killin me, ive never had so much trouble!

                  ahyhoo any more thoughts let me no

                    alrite i thought id post the solution i came up w/ 4the above ploblem. i deleted every thing that had 2do w/ divx/xvid & installed a program called "vidomi" & now things seem 2play & operate fine yeeha!!!
