Hi everyone,
Probably this topic was discussed hundreds times before, but I wasn’t able to find something for this issue.
Usually I convert movies from avi 512x256 to SVCD.
What I’m doing is this:
Using TMPGEnc Plus 2.58.44.152
· Project wizard
· Select Super Video CD (PAL) CBR 2520kbps 35min/650MB next
· Browse the avi file (512x224)
· Aspect Ratio 1:1 VGA next
· Under Other Setting – Advanced – Video Arrange Method Full Screen ( Keep aspect Ratio) next
· Average video bitrate 2050 next
· Output file …… Start encoding immediately next
· Done
Encoding the avi in this way, I don’t have any problem to watch my SVCD on my 28 wide screen TV. I don’t have any black band on the top or bottom of my movie.
Recently I received avi files with different resolution 640x480 ( with thw tipical 2 black bands TOP and BOTTOM)
Proceeding in the same way I can see on my screen 2 huge black bands(TOP and BOTTOM).
Following a friend’s suggestion, I used Virtual Dub 1.4.10:
Add a filter:
· Using “null transform†filter and cropping the 2 bands I obtained the same result encoding, with TMPGEnc, the avi (twice bigger than the original with a considerable loss of quality)
· Using “resize†filter , setting new width at 512 – new height at 256, cropping or not the 2 bands…..same results than before.
Following forum’s suggestion:
I tried to used directly TMPGEnc Plus 2.58.44.152:
· Project wizard
· Select Super Video CD (PAL) CBR 2520kbps 35min/650MB next
· Browse the avi file (640x480)
· Aspect Ratio 1:1 VGA or 16:9 PAL 625 line (PAL) or 16:9 display next
· Under Filter Setting – Clip frame – Clip the 2 bands ( tried also without this step)
· Under Other Setting – Video – Size – set size at 512x224 or left default size – set aspect Ratio at 4:3 or 16:9 or VGA next
· Under Other Setting – Advanced – Video Arrange Method: I tried all the choices there
· Output file …… Start encoding immediately next
· Done
Still the 2 BLOODY black bands on my SVCD.
Any good suggestion to encode an avi 640x480 to a SVCD that can be watch on wide screen TV without the black bands?
Thank guys
