Svcd with subtitles

I have started recently converting dixv/avi to svcd using tmpeg encoder, but i don't know how to join add subtitles to the svcd file. I read somewhere that if we rename the subtitle file with the same name of the avi giving a higher priority to direct show it would work. I've done the subtitles are ok but the image become upside down. The other method i tried to use was with virtualdub and vobsub but vobsub asks me for a ifo file and i don't know what that is.

If at all possible you would be rather off (Assuming you own the DVD's) use DVD2SVCD which can rip and add the subtitles

Sorry I just noticed you don't know what an IFO file is so obviously you didn't rip these yourself. So this should be in the P2P forum if you downloaded these files

VobSub doesn't need any .ifo file if you frameserve via VDub.

Locate VDub dir. and doubleclick on AuxSetup.exe.Then Install Handler
Open .avi in VDub and set Video tab to Full Processing Mode
Then select Filters from the video dropdown menu.
Press add and select TextSub.Open subfile and press OK.
File-->Start Frame Server.Give it a name (something.vdr<--.VDR is important)and press start.

Open .vdr file in TMPGEnc and select proper template(or set up manually).
Wait until encoding is finished and you will have subs on (S)VCD.
