    Convert Avi to VCD problem

I'm trying to convert a avi file to vcd with tmpg. The output video file (mpeg) have a synconization problem. In the begining of the movie, the video is syncronized with audio. But more or less at half of the mpeg file audio appears progressive first than video.

    Please help me.

    Thank you.

(please forgive my english. I'm Portuguese and my english is not to good)

Regards to all of you from Portugal.

    1) Is the original .AVI file properly synchronized from beginning to end?

    2) What procedures are you using under TMPGEnc to convert the .AVI?

    3) A) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDub or NanDub

    B) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    C) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

This thread would be active if the original poster would've done what setarip asked of him

The AVI file is properly synchronized.

          Mpeg settings in tmpgenc:

          Video:
          Stream type - Mpeg1 video
          Size - 352x240
          Aspect ratio - 4:3 525 line ntsc
          Frame rate - 29.97 fps
          CBR
          1150kbits/sec
          Motion search precision - normal

          Advanced:
          Non interlace (progressive)
          top field first (field A)
          4:3 525 line ntsc
          center costume size
          352x240

          Gop Structure (default settings)

          Quantize matrix (default settings)

          Audio:
          Mpeg1 layer II
          44100 Hz
          224 kbits/sec

          System:
          Mpeg1 video cd

The problem MAY be arising due to the fact that the .AVI was apparently encoded using the MP3Pro audio codec (NOT to be confused with the Fraunhoefer MPEG Layer3 Professional codec, or the Radium hack of the Fraunhoefer codec).

              Try the following:

Simply use VirtualDub (or any of its variants) to save the audio stream as an Uncompressed PCM (WAV) file as follows:

              1) Load your original .AVI into VirtualDub
              2) Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy"
              3) Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
              4) From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" - and choose "<No compression(PCM)>"
              5) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save WAV" (Enter a new filename with a ".WAV" extender).Click on "OK"
              6) Then set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
              7) Then save the .AVI as a silent .AVI (set "Audio" to "No audio" after you've saved the WAV file). Close VirtualDub

              THEN - Open TMPGEnc

              8) FIRST - Load the WAV file

              9) SECOND - Load the silent .AVI

              10) Follow your stated procedure for conversion

              Let us know of your success ;>}

                No good results!!
                The problem remains.
I tryed to load audio first then video, but with no results. When i tryed to load video after audio the input wav file disapear.

I encoded the "avi file with no audio" with the wav file and the result was the same has encoding the original avi file.

"When i tryed to load video after audio the input wav file disapear."

Then reverse the procedure - load the silent .AVI first...

the problem remains loading audio after video.

Are the audio video displacement the same through the whole clip?
or is the synching getting worse after a few minutes/seconds?

if the synching is constantly bad, you could try in the advanced settings tab open source range filter and displace the audio by the time-amount that the synching fails with.

also put in mux://[already encoded video.mpg] before the video-filename if you allready has encoded it, that way you can encode only the sound and muxing it with the video, for much faster procedures.

TIP! If you have trouble finding a good synching time displacement, try to enter a source range a minute around a door slamming.
                      - The question is: Why?

i fixed the problem spliting the original avi file in 3 parts. Then i encoded them separately. After that, in the 3 mpeg files the audio appears synchronized with video.
