alrite this ? has been asked b4 but id thought id try again seeing how its my problem 2............

while tryin 2convert an xvid avi 2a mpeg with acouple different processes the file freezes up at the same spot every time.

ive tried a straight tmpegnc conversion, w/ & w/out audio (i can strip entire audio & convert 2file of my choice). ive tried a virtualdub(no audio) frameserve 2 cinema craft conversion also w/ halt at same place (same frame).

im stumped & clearly others have been2 (heres links 2there posts)

im certinly not new 2conversion/encodin..... but im hopin sum1 has found a solution 2this..........

Scan for any bad frames in VirtualDubMOD

    >>EDIT Scan your original Xvid file

ok yes i get an "error decommpressing video frame 78715:unknown error may be corrupt data (error code -100)"

so its just a matter of cuttin it out or tryin 2run it thru divfix

That shouldn't be necessary. After you've used VirtualDubMod (with BOTH "Video" and "Audio" set to "Direct Stream Copy") to scan for errors, save with a new filename. VirtualDubMod should have "masked" the problem frame(s)...

really .... ok this is only time ive used vdubmod 4this so...

all set at direct stream- scaned video "improved scan"-then just "save as avi" under different name?

(not "save old format avi" under different name) or it dont matter

do i need 2mask bad frames? (1 totally shot 26 undecompessable) then the above?

will the bad frames still b detectable if i rescan the new file?

Yes you need to mask.. If you cut sometimes your audio will be unsync
