    DivX Conversion to VCD

New Member here, I have only succesfully converted 1 Movie clip so far using TMPGEnc. Most of my downloads I am not able to convert. For example the Movie SHREK:
When I Browse my video sources & try to Open this movie I get the following error msg: can not open, or unsupported.

the Audio Format is MPEG Layer-3127 Kbits/s, 44100 HZ, stereo
    the Video Format is 352X288, 124865 Frames, 25000 Frames/sec
    63 KB/Sec, UNKOWN FORMAT
    Any ideas?

    A Dutchman from Ontario .............nice

    Now for your problem:

It seems to me that you are missing a codec
Could be the movie is compressed with 4.02 or higher
It mau=ight also be that your movie is a SMR release

    Which codecs did you install?

Can you watch the moviez with WMPlayer?

Maybe Shrek is a movie released by the SMR group
To play their moviez you need to have the SMR-patch installed

Or change the fourcc code with a little prog called
        AVI Fourcc code changer
Make sure the AVI file you want to change is not write protected, open it and change the FourCC from MP43 or AP41 into DIV3 or DIV4 from the dropdown box, both will work.

BTW can you play Shrek in Virtual Dub ?

        Hope this helps

Abdul, yes I was able to play the movie Shrek in VirtualDub. All of my movies that I downloaded have the same problem. Could it be a problem with TMPGEEnc? When I downloaded this software, I also downloaded the VFAPI files, but I didn't run Install.bat, because I don't know how. Not familiar with DOS commands. I'm really reaching aren't I??

            No problem at all

If i get fed up with answering questions then i just don't log on to this site

You really have to install the plugin also
            Like the explanation says:
After downloading, unzip to same folder as TMPGEnc.exe is stored, then run "TMPGEncVFP_Install.bat"
So just put it in that folder and then double-click on the .bat file
No need to know any DOS commands

(or rightclick on the .bat-file and choose open)

              converting

The file you mentioned is in PAL which is a format used in Europe. I've come across a few of these and right now I'm looking for a way to convert PAL to NTSC which is the format used in the US. If I figure it out I'll let you know
