      Probably not. like I said who knows how the avi files were encoded or recorded

          You might be able to re-encode with v-dub but thats a little more complex

            Besides your video-stream has 22fps and you will get horrible results trying to get it back to 23.976 or 29.970 (or 25fps for PAL).
            Whoever did this file oughto think think twice.
            Open the file in Virtualdub for the audio choose direct stream copy and for video full processing mode. download the huffyuv codec and choose that in video->codec.
            Save that avi, you will get a BIG file. try to encode that...
            - The question is: Why?
