    AVI2MPEG2 Sound problem

    Hi Everyone!

I'm trying to convert AVI (PAL) file into MPEG2 (NTSC) using TMPGEnc. The conversion is OK, no sync problem. The only thing is I get kind of whistle sitting on top of the audio. Checked the source - no problem. I presume it's a high frequency component. If I could reduce the the bandwidth from 44000Hz to lower or the bit rate 384k to lower it would help probably. Unfortunately these fields are not selectable in TMPGEnc. Or probably there is another solution?
    Thanks in advance.

You can make them available (under the "Audio" tab) by doing the following:

    Click on the "Load" radiobutton
    Doubleclick on "Unlock.mcf"

Thanks for advice. Tried the lowest bit rate&lowest bandwidth,
still doesn't help. Is there any other solutions?

Use GoldWave to automatically extract the audiostream from the .AVI.

If the noise is a "high frequency component, use GoldWave to filter it out...

(Am I correct in assuming that the suggestion I gave you did, in fact, allow you to access the audio frequency?)

You were right about audio settings change. I also found another way of doing that by clicking frequency or bit rate button and then lock/unlock.
I'll try GoldWave, see what it does.
