load the file into Virtual dub (the original .AVI file) and select Direct stream copy for the video and full processing mode for the sound with uncompresed audio format PCM load the resulting saved file in to Tmpeg the file should be no more bigger than 1.5gb use the tmpeg wizards etc.. to create your VCD MPEG1 which should then be burned on disc with nero or another prog like it

"I can't tell if it is VBR. does it have any more audio information?"

No additional information is required. The fact that the indicated number of audio frames is significantly greater than the indicated number of video frames is the clear indicator that the audiostream is VBR (If it was CBR, the number of video frames and audio frames would be virtually identical):

        "Video Track
        Frame size, aspect_ratio_information 352x240, 29.970fps
        Fsp,# of frames 102298 56:53
        Number of I,P, and B frames 6820/27280/68198
        I-Frame min/avg/max/total frame size: 1741/13125/32407 (87417k)
        P-frame min/avg/max/total frame size: 502/7952/11569 (211855k)
        B-Frame mon/avg/max/total frame size: 125/2701/11147 (179895k)
        Average Bitrate: 1150Kbps (140KB/s)

        Audio Track
        Format: 44KHz stereo, 224Kbps layer 2
        # of frames: 130661
        Total size: 93330K"

"rip darlin you wanna take over on this one?"

If this was addressed to me (abbreviating a screenname, how absurd), be advised that "shining me on" because of perceived/assumed gender differences is bothersome, at best. "Stuffed shirt" that I am, my insight is shared without regard to gender. In other words, don't lay it on too thick.

In answer to your question, no - however, I'm sure other posters will respond, if not here, then in the P2P sub-forum...

                  "rip darlin"

If that's not a sexist approach to seeking assistance...

"i guess it all comes down to the whole women not adding up to men theory"

I couldn't have said it better myself. Men and women SHOULD be dealt with both as equals and on EQUAL terms - No "darlin", "hon", "sweetie pie" or any other POLITICALLY INCORRECT terms.

                  Regardless, I'm sure there'll be other posters who will be more than happy to aid you ;>}

(Just a bit of insight. The only reason I posted to this thread was to provide "Chickeneater" with some additional knowledge regarding recognition of VBR audiostreams)

I suggest the following: get yourself the normal version of virtual dub if you have problems with virtual dub mod.

and then if you still want to correct your VBR and out of sync problems in your avi file in order to make them an appropriate source for t mpeg.

will you reread the very long post of mine pick one of the appropriate methods and then follow it step by step?????
