    here is the problem

    the type mismatch is because some nerd has renamed
    the file to mpg it should be either intimate journey.asf
    or intimate journey.wma

    after rerenaming..... the file should be recognized
    correctly......

    one thing in addition the file contains an audio in variable bitrate

    so you might get in troubles encoding it to mpg
    (out of synch etc)

    my tip would be....

    get hold of the ASF TOOLS from this site
    also install the windows media encoder from microsoft home page

    reextract the asf files to avi with asf tools

    this will make an avifile that contains a mpeg4 V3 stream and divx audio.....

    load that into virtual dub.... ignore VBR warning and change the compresion of the the audio to wav using full processing mode in audio and use directstream copy on video...
    save under a new filename.... use thhe new file as source for convertig to mpg

        "How do know if the ext like above was changed"

        You provided the answer ;>}

        "Gspot details - file is asf (wma\.wmv)"

        GSpot (and VirtualDub) read the file information from the header part of the actual file - not simply the name and extender someone gave to the file...
