    TMPGenc question

    Hey-

Im ripping some DVDs to mpeg for my website members download on our sites (i have acquired the license to all this, its totally legal). I used DVD Decryptor to rip the .vob files to my hard drive, and then I used DVD2AVI to Frame Serve the .vobs. I got the necessary .d2v and .wav files, and I put them into TMPGenc to encode to mpeg. The problem is, when I go to the advance settings menu, none of the options (most importantly the bitrate) are available for me to change. Does anyone know what the problem may be? I ran it without messing with any of that and the clip i took a little bit bigger in filesize than i wanted (about 8.5M for 50 seconds). Any help at all is appreciated.

Simple solution, click "load" and selet the "unlock" template in the tmpgenc folder. Then all the options you want can be switched

Thank you! that worked for me...the problem is, im a total newbie with all of this and reducing the bitrate of the clip (and, subsequently, the actual pixel size of it) did nothing to reduce the filesize of the clip. So I guess my next question is...how do you accomplish that? Can it be done in TMPGenc? Thanks again for your help with that, and hopefully with this new problem

        Glad to help

Actually, to reduce the file size you dont necessarily need to reduce the pixel size....you can just lower the bitrate like you want to. To do you should lower the #'s in the bitrate box like you did before...but im surprised why you didnt achieve a smaller file?
Maybe you didnt lower it enough.

Try decreasing the bitrate by, say, 200pts.

        Lemme know how it goes.
