DVDr disks wont burn

I have brought 25 DVD-r's and when i tried to burn to them it said please insert a empty meidum, so i went out and brought another 25 DVD-r's of another make and tried again but i got the same message, i can burn on DVD-rw's fine, does this mean they are usless or is there some kind of settings i can alter to get them to work?

thanks ormonde that clears up a few things,i dont know what make my dvd burner is but i know it will burn DVD+r, so i can only assume that it wont burn DVD-r

ormonde is it easy to change burner to burn - instead of + because im not very computer Literate and do i need to spend loads of money because all i want to do is use my 50 usless dvd-rs

Is it possible that you could exchange the 50 DVD (-r) that you bought for 50 DVD (+r) media? I don't know how long ago you purchased them or from where, but perhaps you could negotiate with the store- make them sympathetic to your burner problem.

I may have misunderstood you. I thought you meant, "change dvd burner" to mean buy another one.
