simple way to rip to multiplex vcd

I am attempting to back up some of my karaoke DVD's.
My first attempt was using DVDx, which does a fine job until I realized that it mixed the two sound tracks (vocal and non-vocal) together.

Then I used smartrip to rip to bunch of .vob files on my computer. They play on my computer just fine, since I got mpeg2 decoder. But then they are 120mb each! I don't think my harddrive can handle it if I am to back up ALL of my dvd's.

So my question is this: How do I convert these large .vob file to mepg-1 quality (vcd?) .mpg file with both sound tracks in tact?

I just postet a tut on using DVD2SVCD link to rip to VCD. U can use this as well. All u have to alter is to select both audio Tracks in DVD2SVCD and adjust the Size of the final Movie so it still is small enough 4 the second Audio Stream to be multiplexed in the finished VCD.

Use TMPEGEnc File >> MPEG Tools >> Multiplex (not the silmple version) >> chosse MPEG-I VideoCD (non-standard) >> add the finished mpg movie and the second Audio Stream >> hit Run >> your done

bbMPEG is a better muxxer than TMPGEnc, but not as easy to use.

Can I choose not to rip the DVD with DVD2SVCD? The reason being, I think one of the chapter (song in a karaoke dvd) is damaged and will freeze my computer if I attempt to rip it. I want to skip over the chapter, and can't seem to find a way to do it in dvd2svcd.

On the other hand, if I already ripped a dvd to .vob files, can I use dvd2svcd while skipping over the ripping part?

I followed your tut and rip a chapter out. The result is a mpg file that when I open, it only says 26 sec. By the time the tracking bar get to the end in WMP (after 26 seconds), it simply keep playing there...I don't know what is wrong. This may helps: when I click "rip and convert" it gave me an err msg saying that total bitrate is over the limit...about 200kbps over...but I don't know how to change the video bitrate in dvd2svcd...
