Hi there,
Ive been encoding .avi's to svcd/dvd for many moons now and the usual way is to remove the audio stream(virtualdubmod) and use this stream combined with the original .avi in TMPGEnc to produce the desired file output, whether it be svcd or m2v+wav.
The problem I am having has no doubt been answered in this forum somewhere, however the replies to some of the threads, I have tried but to no avail im afraid. The file is a 25fps Div3.avi
with MPEG3 audio @ 128 kb/s.
From within the excellent DivX player it runs fine, good quality all the way through with no hickups in either the sound or video departments and this leads me to my problem.
I have tried to re-save the .avi in vdubmod with uncompressed wav, but on playing the .avi, sound sync issues emerged straight away so I deleted that one, then I removed the sound uncompressed and tried the usual method, the audio is about 500 milliseconds in front of the video(it gets no worse).
Then I decided to clip the mpeg to 3 mins of where they are talking and try the audio delay function but a problem occured there(I do not know if it was me) I loaded the resulting mpeg back into TMPGEnc and selected the source select altered the delay and tried to re-save it out using a different filename and then clicking start(Am I doing something wrong here?) as the resulting file plays with a black screen! no audio no video.
I have read other threads about converting the mp3 to ac3 and using that but I got worse results.
It's a weird problem having only come across it once in all the films I have encoded.
My machine specs are; P4 2.66 o/c @3.4, 1 gig 2700 ram, geforce 4600ti card, swiftech water cooling....etc
I have installed the nimo codec pack and an ac3 addon for TMPGEnc other than that my machine is relatively clean(codecs wise)
Thnx for any help in resolving this matter
