    cutting mpeg into two help

    hi

I have been using tmpgenc to cut mpeg files into two for vcd, my problem, is that on one mpeg file, I managed to cut the first part fine, but now the second part won't cut, it just gets as far as the audio part and then locks up before outputting to file. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling tmpgenc, also going over to the OS to try, but still it locks up.

Could someone tell me another programme that I can use to do this, the first part is up until 48 mins, so I need it to be able to select from 47mins 55 secs to the end.

    Thanks

Just curious (since that's a very unusual problem to encounter when using TMPGEnc) - have you played the original MPEG file all the way through? If so, did you notice anything unusual at the approximate 48 minute mark?

Have you tried making the first part longer - perhaps 55 minutes to one hour, to see if it creates the same problem?

Yes, I have played the mpeg file all the way through, and it played fine, I have also tried to start the second part earlier, but it still locks up. I have limited space on my hard drive so I have burnt the cd for the first part and it plays fine, as does the mpeg file.

I am totally lost as to what to do.

      Thanks

Hi as Setarip said, that is very strange. So after burning off the first cut file you deleted it off your hard drive ? You could try another verson of TMPGEnc I am back to using 12a and cant fault it so far, I know that a few versons had there little hip-cups, so try uninstalling the verson you have and download a different on. Although i hate to say this but if that fails you could always resort to that awfull program VCD Cutter to cut your MPEGs just untill you get TMPGEnc sorted though

        Cheers hope this helps

I will repeat my earlier question:

Have you tried making the first part longer - perhaps 55 minutes to one hour, to see if it creates the same problem?

What I am suggesting above is just the opposite of what you said you've tried ("starting the second part earlier")...

no i haven't, for the simple reason that I am short of cd's and what you are suggesting means I would have to bin the one I have already done.

I will try another version of tmpgenc, but I have been using this one for a while, it is version 2.01.30.116., where can I get the 12a version from???

            thanks anyway

I am not sure if 12a is here but there is a few to choose from at www.tmpgenc.com

              Cheers

Yet again, I'll ask,I will repeat my earlier question:

Have you tried making the first part longer - perhaps 55 minutes to one hour, to see if it creates the same problem?

You don't have to burn a CD to see if TMPGEnc will CREATE a longer Part One without "gagging"!
