Ripping AC3 Audio from a Divx Avi, to make a VCD

I tried to use TMPGEnc to convert my divx/ac3 movie into a vcd compatible Mpeg, but in the wizard it would let me slect my file for the video source, but when i tried to select the same .avi movie for the audio source it came up with the error message "cannot open or not supported".

I then tried to use VirtualDubMod to extract the audio as a .wav but the resulting file wouldnt play in winamp, and when i used it to make the vcd mepg in TEMPGEnc the resulting file had no sound.

So what i really need to know is how to i rip the AC3 audio from my .avi divc movie file so that i can in turn use it with the .avi to make an mpeg suitable for VCD.

Ive searched the forum about 6 times and learnt the basics of these apps, but cant find a solution of my own (hence i registerd).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In TMPGEnc, under the "Environmental Settings" "VFAPI plugin" tab rightclick on the "Direct Show Multimedia Reader" and increase to one greater than the highest priority of listed items. This will enable TMPGEnc to accept a properly encoded .AVI with .AC3 audio for input...

Yeah i did that (i saw the same advice in another post) but i still had the same problem. It wouldnt accept the .avi as a source for sound.

I take it back, i booted it to the top of the list and now it works, but after doing a little sample. Ive noticed its still got no sounds enven thought it now accepts the .avi as the sound input.

ALSO my source .avi has a resolution of 640x368, so when i make it into an mpeg it gets squished :S. Please help, youve been great so far.

Ok, scrub that again, i managed to rip the AC3 audio and recode it as a Wav. So now i have working Audio.

My last problem in my way is that my source .avi has a resolution of 640x368 and when i make it into a mpeg it looks squashed, how can i stop it looking squashed?

THANKS!!! for the help so far and to the great people that make this forum!
