TMPGenc Audio

Now I know that there are billions of TMPGenc Audio posts (I know this because I have read most of them) however.........


I have recently had to reformat my PC, I won't bore you with the details why, but ever since I have not been able to encode from avi to mpg with sould. Video is fine but there is no sound whatsoever. I have used gspot to check the codecs and I appear to have the codecs required for the different avi's I have also increased the priority of the direct show line in VFAPI to 2 which is higher than anything else.

I think that something may be fundamentally wrong as I am using toolame as an external encoder but I am extracting the sound direct from the avi. As a fix I have tried to extract sound to a wav file with virtualdub although I have never had to have to do this before the reformat. The message that I get is

"No audio compressor could be found to decompress the source audio format"

What up ?

I have checked loads of the other threads an have found alot of answers but nothing that seems to work for me.

Please help before very expensive PC gets introduced to very heavy hammer

Try using TMPGEnc WITHOUT selecting an external encoder...

Yeah, I was originally doing this and I only started using toolame becuase I was getting no sound from the internal encoder.

Just out of curiosity, what version of TMPGEnc are you using?

1) Load the original .AVI video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box
