I've had problems encoding with TMPGenc and I've read a few more posts on different forums with the same problem...
The thing is I haven't seen an answer anywhere, so if you think you're up to it give it a shot.

The error that pops up when using TMPGenc is this:

"Illegal floating deciaml point calculation order"

So what does it mean and how to correct it?

Check the TMPGEnc section of vcdhelp.com and divx-digest.com You might want to post your video properties. Alternatively, adjust the AFW compatibility header to a higher value (I think). Check the resolution of your clip and the audio in Virtualdub.

Ok, that's the file info...
I noticed the audio file was VBR so this is what I did.
audio/full processing
audio/compression:
No compression(PCM)
audio/conversion:
44100Hz, 8-bit, stereo
File/save wav
After I have saved the wav I used it in TMPGenc as audio source.
So what can be wrong??

Do you have this codec installed on your system (It's not either of the DivX v.3.11alpha versions)?

Which version of TMPGEnc are you using (Check the TMPGEnc website "History" notes for possible related bugs resolved/created in various versions)?

I'm using TMPGenc v2.53.35.130.

How can I check what codec I have installed??

Would be very happy if you could solve this problem for me.

The simplest way is to run VirtualDub and under "Video", select "Compression". It will list all of the Video codecs installed on your system on the left and, as you highlight each one, it will show their "FourCC" names.

Ok, I checked and I got the DivX MPEG-4 Video Codec in the video/compression list in VirtualDub.

So what is wrong and how to correct it??

Can you play this avi file properly? Is the audio heard properly? This is "twisted" but you can try converting this avi to a divx file (that hopefully TMPGEnc will recognize). You can try software besides TMPGEnc, check out divx-digest.com You may want to install divx 4 or 5. Refuse any offer for these codecs to play divx 3.11 alpha content. Alternatively, you may be interested in installing a "Codec pack"---they are combinations of different codec, currently many codec packs are available at divvx-digest.com software section. Also, I would advise you to do a search for this codec on google.com


Did you in TMPGENc adjust the AFW compatibility header. what is the resolution of your avi (I mean like area)?

I notice that your audio frames are almost double the number of video frames. This is typically indicative of a VBR (Variable Bit Rate) MP3 audio stream, which TMPGEnc loathes. If my supposition os correct, you'll have to convert the audio stream to a CBR (Constant Bit rate) MP3. I believe you can accomplish this with Nandub...

Ok, I've found out some more details about the problem...
First, I'm not sure the audio is the problem...
Before I started encoding, I loaded the unlock template and chose video only...
Well I still got the problem "Illegal floating decimal point calculation order"
And, at the same spot...

So, got any answers???

I've cut out the part where the encoding stops and I try differnet solutions, but nothing seems to work...

No matter what MAY be problematic with the video portion, the VBR audio is still DEFINITELY going to be a problem.

So, before you explore any OTHER possible problems, I'd once again suggest taht you load the file into NanDub and resave it with CBR-MP3 audio (or WAV).

Then try this new file with TMPGEnc...

You could also use Virtualdub, or check to see if you have the right version of Nandub.

Audio - cbr

I have saved the audio as a cbr wav.
Then I used the wav as audio source...
Still doesn't work

Open VirtualDub
Set "Audio" to "No audio" and "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Load your .AVI and save the silent .AVI with a new name.

Let us know if TMPGEnc will accept this silent .AVI.

BY the way, does the WAV file you've created play properly (Just doubleclick on it to start it playing under Windows Media Player)?
