    i,m with you on that one bud, i get the same error, i was hoping that someone may have posted a solution, but they seem abit slow in here, might be better to check out one of the dvd websites, it may be quicker.

      If the video was encoded with DivX v.5.0, this may be your problem, since I don't believe TMPGEnc can handle anything more current than 4.12...

          You could load the .AVI into VirtualDub and, assuming you have one of the earlier DivX codecs installed (my favorite, the original v.3.11alpha, or one of the v.4.xx codecs), you could resave the video with that codec (using a new filename), which should make it acceptable to TMPGEnc.

          Let us know of your success ;>}

            tried that already .. there's this message that says
            Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'MP42' (Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4 V2)
            VirutalDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) comaptible codec to dcompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.

            can you gys explain this?? if i'll be needing a new codec where can i get it??

              If you already knew that it required this codec and you don't have it installed, why didn't you mention this in your initial post?!?

              You can find that codec in one of the many codec "packs" available at the DivXDigest site.

              Once you've downloaded and installed this codec, TMPGEnc will be happy to process the file...
