TMPGEnc crashes when opening mpg1

When I try to open MPG-files, all versions of TMPGEnc crashes.
Can anyone help me?
It has never done this before, I just installed my system twise. Second time because of this I don't want to do it again. And I can play back the files.

System:
M$ Windows 2000 SP2
AMD Duron 700 MHz
Geforce2 MX 32 mb

DivX 5.0 pro (ad-version)
Nimo 4.4
Some MPEG-2 Codec
ASUS ASUSDVD2000 (PowerDVD)

At this point in time, it appears that TMPGEnc (all presently existing versions) is not yet equipped to handle files compressed with the recently released DivX v.5.0...

It is MPEG1 files it won't open, havn't tryed DivX 5 yet

If the files you've described are in either VCD or SVCD format, you'll first have to convert them to "plain vanilla" MPEG1 or MPEG2 files. You can accomplish this with TMPGEnc as follows:

File>>MPEGTools>>Merge&Cut

If the file is a VCD, change the mode to MPEG1 (NOT MPEG1-VideoCD). If it's SVCD, change the mode to MPEG2 (NOT MPEG2-SuperVideoCD). Save the file with a new filename.

The new file should be accepted by TMPGEnc's main window.

Just curious, what are you trying to do to the files?

I just got it to work,
I installed Nimo Codec pack 5 and updated my PowerDVD.
Some how the old one broke the "DirectShow Multimedia Files reader" used by TMPGenc. The problem first startet after I installed the version of PowerDVD I used before. I don't think it was the old Nimo 4.4.

Glad to hear you've solved your problem.

I wish they'd stop creating those massive "anything and everything" codec packs. the peolpe would download and install ONLY the codecs that they actually need - and they'd be more readily able to determine which codec, if any, was creating a problem.
