burning VCD with Easy CD Creator

I've created a VCD (MPEG-1 file) with TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 and when I burn it to a cd (standard 74 min/650MB cd-r) with Easy CD Creator 4 the disc can not be read by my home DVD/VCD player. Do I need to use Nero?

Yes you do need Nero. a Vcd and a MPEG file are two completly different things.
