    Its all gone purple uggghh

    please help, for some time now I have had no problems converting divx to vcd, however for some strange reason after conversion now, sometimes the visuals go purple? I havnt done anything differently or changed my software? can anyone help please?

    I have the same problem, it seems to progressivly get worse then suddenly resets back to a normal picture only to repeat the process again. I think it has something to do with how often a key frame is used. any clarification would be appreciated.

        go for the right codec, you can find the codec used for decoding using virtualdub. Load the movie, the go to info. Thís will show you the codec you will need to encode...

          Make certain that both horizontal and vertical resolutions (of the .AVI) are multiples of 16...

            thanks for the reply. yes they are multiples of 16, its only happened on this particular avi, others have been ok? sorry im a numpty brain

              My pleasure ;>}

              Since it's only one .AVI, it was probably encoded with the somewhat flaky SMR codec - which is a modified version of the DivX v3.11alpha codec. You might try re-encoding it under VirtualDub, using the v.3.11alpha codec...

                do you meen opening the file in vdub, and then saving as avi? or do i have to do anything else? if it helps you aide me when i play the file in divx player, its fine? many many thanks
