    Which codec is this?

    Greetings,

    I got this divx movie from a friend (Mulholland Drive) But I can't find which audio codec it's in. So I get no audio. VirtualDub reports 5 channels ... I don't know any codec which uses 5 channesl (it also says Tag 2000 whatever that means)

    I tried the tsunami codec pack, and ace's, but to no avail.

    Any ideas?

      The audio is ac3. You already have the tsunami codec pack. Its in there.

          I have the AC3 codec, still the sound doesn't play. If it really is that codec, shouldn't VirtualDub report it under file information? It still displays unknown...

          Are there any other 5 channel codecs?

          Any ideas?

              "Unknown (Tag2000)" IS VirtualDub's identification of .AC3 audio...

              Is it possible that you haven't properly installed the .AC3 filter (presumably iviaudio.ax, which must be registered to Windows). Otherwise, you should be able to successfully play the file with a software DVD player (WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc.).
