    Yet another newbie nandub question

    Hi hi everybody ...

Hehe I'm having "problems" in nandub. I encoded a 20-minute long Japanimation clip, using 1100kbps DivX bitrate setting, which should have given me about a 170MB file give or take. But, the final file came out to be 105MB! I watched the file and I assume that because there are many slow scenes that the actual bitrate dropped quite a bit. I re-encoded the file in flask DivX low-motion, and the final filesize was 166MB, with not much noticeable difference in quality.

So anyway, not much of a real problem, but I was wondering how much the other settings besides bitrate (eg, high pass, min bitrate, etc etc) can affect final filesize? I know that DivX filesizes aren't that predictable but in this case the filesize was off by almost 40%! I tried a couple other files as well, and the closest animation I got to the calculated filesize was 20% off. Movie clips aren't that bad, with about an error of 5%.

Also, do you guys know of any forums that discuss nandub in more detail? This forum doesn't have that much info on nandub settings and all. Nandub has so many options that I'd really like to know what they all do, rather than simply changing settings and hoping for the proper filesize at the end.
