DivX-compressed .AVIs can (presently) only be played on your computer.

The sole purpose of creating an MPEG1-VideoCD ("VCD") is to allow playback on a standalone DVD player via your television.

DivX-compressed .AVI files are smaller (and usually of higher quality) than MPEG1-VideoCD ("VCD") versions of the same video.

You only require a CD burner to burn a VideoCD ("VCD")...

Instead of making a VCD create a SVCD "Super Video CD" it's MPEG2 and VCD is MPEG1... it's better quality though you might have to use one or two more CD:S to achive best quality.

You can also write a 2 hour movie on SVCD with only two cdr if you try TMPGEnc pro en variable bitrate (doesn't take care of the mpeg over 700 Mo, you can burn a 850 Mo file on a 700 Mo cdr with VBR).

You can also try DVDx to convert a DVD in SVCD

Or TMPGEnc to convert a Divx in SVCD

The firs is faster 2 houres

The second is slower (5 h with a Tbird 1.2 Ghtz for encoding Dvd in divx and 3 or 4 h for encoding Avi-Divx in Mpeg 2) but, it seems to me, a better quality.

Then, use Nero or VCDEasy for create your SVCD (I pref. VCDEasy, a splendid freeware).
