    encoding probs

    ive just got an avi video file which i intended to re encode so i can make it in to a vcd im not a newbie ive been doing this for years the video is encoded with a standard divx 5 codec but the audio is encoded with an unknown codec ie the sound is there but mi pc cant find the right codec to decompres the stream ive tried the xvid ,lame, radium, various mp3 codecs but i cant get it to work there is an audio stream there there must be because it has a valid bit rate and duration has any one had this prob before if so any help would be most apreciated as ive been after this film for a while cheers mateys cya

    From your other posting, the audio format is in AC3. You will need to convert this into a .wav file that most VCD encoders recognise. BeSweet should do the job well for you.

          advice

          tried bsweet but kept bombing out as soon as i ran the conversion but your advice did help i downloaded ac3 tool used vdub to extract the audio then changed the header from wav to ac3 then converted that to a wav with ac3 tool im now re encoding the audio and video files with tmpgencoder plus already ran a short test and its worked a charm..... wouldnt have figured it out without the advice though so once again thanks... at least i now know were to go next time i get stuck... cheers again
