DVSD to Divx playback jercky on full screen.

    Hi,
I just gor a digital8 video cam (SOny 740). I had some old 8mm tapes and I used premier to capture a video clip to the computer (firewire). I edited and then export it to DV codec avi file. My problem started when I tried to convert the output to a divx file.

I have tried virtualdub, bink, ulead video studio, flask, and virtually any software I have to convert formats and I always get a divx file that plays OK at the original size (I said OK as it's some what more interlaced than the original) and plays really bad on full screen. I even tried compressing to divx from premier 6 it self. same thing. I also reproduced the file in diferent computers and using 7 different players (including media player and bsplayer, playa etc...) the exported (edited)DVSD file and the original captured file look ok and playback OK. I also tried all versions of divx (3.11, 4.12, 5.01, 502) ...I tried without sound.... I cropped the edges... well I am totally lost by now. I have lloked around but haven't found anyone with my same problem.

I hope I don't run into this when I start shooting digital8 and tranfer the video to the PC..

any help will be greatly aprreciate.

    Mario

When trying VirtualDub, have you applied one of the DeInterlacing filters?

Idid... also I have a pentium IV and I can play any other divx files with no problems. I also played with the codec processing levels and the same thing occured... I change the capturing software (Ulead media studio6, virtualdub, ulaed video studio and the same thing occurs I get a file that plays back properly but when recompressed to divx it does not play well on full screen.

Have you tried increasing the bitrate for the DivX codec?

          I found what it was..
since I got my digital camera I have installed many programs in my PC. I went back and started unistalling one by one

once I got rid of divx 5.01 ( which was installed long time ago though) it started playing OK)

There is an article on this forum on how to get player to play div3 content with the dixx3 codec.

After a few tries I finnally got it.
what was weir was that I have been playing divx3 with the divx5 codec for a long time with no problems and for some reason ( or maybe something I installed?) it started conflicting

          weir weir..
          thanks for the help/..
