To deinterlace or not to deinterlace that is the question?

Coming from flask it is easy to tell when to deinterlace because the opening screen tells you when the movie is interlaced. I am now using GK and do not know how to tell if the orig movie is interlaced or not. I am assuming that if the movie is interlaced all I would have to do is check the feild deinterlace option or fast deinterlace. Is this the correct/best way?
    Thanx in advance

Viewing various scenes from the movie, esp. the fast-motion ones, will reveal whether the movie requires deinterlacing or not. Generally, NTSC materials (29.97 fps or originally-FILM 23.97 fps) come with interlace artifacts. PAL movies (25 fps) rarely suffer from those.
