    Visual Artefacts - deinterlacing

Hi i'm trying to convert from VOB to Divx.

My source is interlaced NTSC 29.97fps. When I convert using Xmpeg even with the deinterlace option checked I can't get rid of these artefact lines. I've tried reducing the "motion sensitivity" but it manages to reduce the problem but not eliminate it.

    Here is a picture

I've noticed there is a drop down box to choose different deinterlacing methods. Would one of them be more appropriate for my case?

Thankyou for any help/advice you can offer.

XMPEG is a derivative of Flask which, in turn, is never able to properly perform deinterlacing. Hence, I doubt you can achieve much with XMPEG. I'd recommend that you give GordianKnot a try. I've been very satisfied with its Inverse Telecine ability (does better than a deinterlacer will ever be able to do, in your case), and I'm sure you will agree with me once you have tried it out.

p.s. Been some time since I last saw ToE.
