I need help making my movie files so i can play them on my DVD player...

i was wondering if you can convert movie files from like Morpheus or something to be played on my home DVD player?
i don't have a DVD rom on my comput but if i need on i can use my brothers.......
also how do i copy my DVD's to a blank CD for backups?

you can easily convert avis to mpeg1(vcd) or mpeg2(svcd)
