    Divx and AC3---Why?

I have downloaded some divx movies in two parts and want to compress them to fit on one disc. I have done this many times before but i can't get virtual dub to work with AC3 audio. I have found many programs that can convert AC3 to MP3, but I can't find anything to actually extract the AC3 audio from the movie. I have tried virtual dub, nandub, avi2mp3, and others. Does anyone have an ideas for me?

If the audiostream is AC3 open the file in NanDub.
File--->Save Wav and the output is AC3

        Rename extension to .ac3

This is how I do it.
I use the command line based prog AZID
At the command line : azid ***.ac3 ***.wav
AZID converts the file to WAV.
        Convert to MP3

You can get the prog here : www.doom9.org
