xvid to vcd

how do you convert xvid to vcd, dont tell me you use TMPGnc or
virtualdub. TMPGnc locks up or has a kernal32 error,and virualdub
crashes after about 2 min of converting to divx, audio is ok , but have not been able to convert xvid to vcd.iam not new to this i
have converted 100 or so divx to vcd. they need to stop encoding
in xvid if no one can use it. the codec is junk.

No seriously though, the reason why Tmpgenc probably locks up for you is because the audio is in 48000Hz, which it won't process. The change the audio to 44100Hz, simply open up VDub and select the video file. Next audio-> full processing mode and audio-> 44100Hz. Leave the rest as it is and finally File-> save wav. Then when in Tmpgenc select your video file and for the audio select this newly saved wav.

I do it with TMPGEnc 2.5

I convert Xvid files with nothing but TMPGEnc 2.5 . I have a post explaining how to do this, (You have to set TMPGEnc up for XVID files), and I don't want to re-type the entire process again, it is titled :

XVID conversion w/ TMPGEnc 2.5

I can convert to VCD or DVD formats, check it out, it really works.

you will need the xvid codec and the proper audio codec installed on you computer. But you dont have to split, demux files or use any other program.


Give it a try and let me know how it works out for you.

nimrod VDUB will not save ,it says the bit rate incoming is not the same as outgoing. like i dont known 48000 and 41000 are not the same.

but every time i open a xvid TMPGEnc locks up and i have to reboot computer.(iam using windows ME).

It didn't want to save the wav in VDub?
Did you put the audio&video to full processing mode?

XVID Conversion

I am running under winXP, but I would try and double check all settings again and you can choose a different type out put. I have converted Die Another Day which was in xvid along with others and I use DVDit to author my DVDs and everything works great. Can you play the video on your computer with everything working properly? If not you probably don't have the right codecs.
I would try different codecs until I could play the movie before I would try to convert. You can't convert what you can't read. It should play normal when you have all the right codecs and none of your files are currupted. If you have tried to convert the file you're using now it may be currupted, always back up original and use a fresh copy each time you try something new (anytime you try to change a file it can alter or corrupt the file you're trying to convert).

So make sure you are running the latest version of TMPGEnc and all settings are as shown. I have altered my output option so it will give you two seperate files ( an audio & a video).

The resulting files will get you completely away from the xvid format. (works great for me)

Well then your problem sounds like one of the (numerous) xvid problems people have been reporting on this forum. Unfortunately i can't help you with this problem because my xvid movies work fine. Good luck in solving your problem

Note: I'm pretty sure we're not allowed ( ) to post links to such material as you posted, so I would remove it before the admin does and gives you a *warning* about it. And by the way, my friend got that movie and it works fine for him, so its not the movie.

I took your advise and installed the nimo pack for sound and then followed your instructions in your post

I now am as you can see extremely happy it works perfectly. You were right on the money I have now converted from Xvid to Mpeg and then to VCD and everything works just fine.
