How to fix Xvid

I loaded a corrupted index Xvid file. I tried to fix it with virtualDub cause Divfix does not rebuilt Xvid.


On one hand, VirtualDub give an error audio message (cbr not valid, changing settings but skew is expected), but rebuilt index fine, and on the other hand it takes a long time to compress again wasting quality.


Is there a tool like Divfix for Xvid? In order to rebuild index without compressing

In terms of developpement, it is quite clear, Xvid will die if such such easy tools are not available. Files are loaded by P2P, and rebuilding easily index is compulsory.

VDub doesn't support VBR.
Load the file in NanDub instead.

Of course it does (VirtualDubMod)! Opening file with xtended options allows VBR...

Anyway, I found a solution:

1) Xtended Option opening file:

VBR+rekeying

===) Index and Key are rebuilt

Keeping the same format (avoiding de-recompressing)

Video: direct stream copy

Audio: direct stream copy

Save avi and it is over

New Xvid file (repaired) can be read

This is yet another hack of the legitimate VirtualDub program - just as NanDub is - and, therefore, is a different program. Technically, gs0666 is correct...
