    Well, it was worth a shot (since others have fallen prey to the *.avs.txt problem before).

    Perhaps one of the frameserving "gurus", such as UncasMS, will happen along and provide you with the soution to your current dilemma ;>}

        Sadly 'DirectShowSource' in AviSynth will not provide you with the audio.

        Try opening the MPEG-1 with VirtualDubMOD as it has some MPEG-1 audio fixes.

          Ok, sorry for the late response.
          What version of AVIsynth are you using?
          I will post a pic of this example working fine for me on AVIsynth 2.06.
          To find what version, create a simple .avs script with the line

          version()

          and open in virtualDub. Maybe that's the issue.

          Audio.....jcsston is correct. If you transcode the sound to wav, using the Wavsource command and load it seperate. Work from there.

          This audio issue will be sorted soon.

            Thanks Edge, unfortunately I was away for a couple of days and when I came back I discovered that one of my sisters got a virus on my pc so I had to reformat and the file I wanted to convert just went with that (
            Anyway, the version of avisynth I was running was the latest, I've downloaded it from the site you provided.
            I'll try to download that mpeg file again and come back to see if we can solve it.
            Thanks to everyone for your replays

              UncasMS...HELP!!!!
              sorry for the late response - i normally dont look into threads on vcd=> divx and i wont promise to be of help but lets see how far we get:

              i'd extract the audio from your mpeg first to make sure it is fine.

              in case you're dealing with mpeg2, use tmpeg to demux.
              for mpeg1 use this special version of virtualdub:

              virtualdub_MOD

              here is the link for the vd_mod pack (which contains an out-of-date EXE file!!):

              apart from the vd_mod version you might need to download the *needed dlls* as well as *lexer* from that site too in order to run vd_mod!

              having downloaded this complete vd_mod pack, now download the LATEST bugfixed exe:
              http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/v...3.zip?download from 17-1-03

              - start vd_mod, load your mpeg(1)
              - go to AVI, make sure to ahve AVI AUDIO in the AUDIO(1) settings
              - now save this audio stream by via AVI => SAVE WAV
              - you should have extracted your original audio stream now

              test this audio file with winamp and in case it is complete you shpuld be able to convert this mpeg1 stream to divx (though i wouldnt now, why you want to do this conversion at all)

              good luck

                Thanks Uncas, the reason why I wanted to convert was that I wanted to be able to put the file on one cd, as my cdwriter wouldn't allow me to overburn.
