    what shall i do?
    don't use it

    in theory q-pel should be able to improve quality - in reality noone hase ever noticed that.

    using q-pel does, however, results in more resources needed and thus it only slows down the process without gaining anything from this option.

        these are the settings i suggest in my guide:

        2.2
        Use these settings for VIDEO:
        IDCT Algorithm => 32 Bit SSE MMX
        Field Operation => None
        Color Space => YUV 4:2:2
        YUV -> RGB => PC Scale
        Luminance Filter as well as Clip & Resize stay unchanged.

        so far i have no intention to change them

          but in some movies, when u check YUV under Color space and after you press F5 to see the preview in DVD2AVI, it doesnt work.. when you leave it at RGB then the preview works.. for some movies, although preview doesnt work when i check YUV, should i still check it no matter?? cause what i felt, it made video settings itself automatically.. or i was wrong??

              but dont you check if it is 16:9 or 4:3??
              and what is the difference between YUV and RGB then??
              and also the difference between PC scale and TV scale??

                no, i dont judge whether it is 4:3 or 16:9 in dvd2avi

                preview functions of transcoding tools such as gk or dvx is what i prefer.

                yuv vs rgb are color spaces/formats - yuv works faster

                for details c.f. here

                      thank you again Uncas..

                      i have one more question out of this subject..
                      some movies i download have some errors.. like while you are watching it, it comes such a moment that video freezes but audio continues.. video just stops there but movie continues.. i hope you understand what i try to tell.. excuse for my poor english.. what i wonder is, if there is a chance to fix this parts of the movie.. divfix doesnt look like a solution for that.. is there any other ways i can try for that kind of errors??

                          now i tried.. and picture doesnt freeze anymore.. but i have some questions about it.. i wonder if it makes movies quality or speed less.. i mean does it have any damages to movie?? and also i wonder how to uninstall it if i want to... or you say this is a necessary program for divx lovers??
                          last thing is, after i installed it i had something in my startup menu which says "Configure DivX Antifreeze" under "PPR Video Utilities".. when i click it i have this error message:

                          RUNDLL

                          Fehler in DivXAF.ax
                          Folgender Eintrag fehlt:Configure

                          what is that suppose to mean??

                            what you installed is a patched overlay filter which allows the player to skip the broken frame(s) and thus enabling you to continue watching your files without stopping at the defect frame(s).

                            this filter does imho not at all reduce performance - i never realized this or heard about it.

                            Fehler in DivXAF.ax => error in divxaf.ax
                            Folgender Eintrag fehlt:Configure => the following entry is missing: configure

                            i'm not sure what caused this, but maybe you'll simply have to restart your system in order to make these changes available!?
