    Ignore file size

    Hi Everyone.
1.Do I gain better quality if i choose a bitrate much more higher?
2.Will this lead to a big .avi file? (It doesn't bother me, if the quality is noticeably better because i want to be experimented with these things).
The above are general questions for encoding dvd to divx with any program and any Divx codec.
    Thanks.

Using a higher resolution and/or higher bitrate can lead to higher quality divx. However, usually, anything over 2 mbps is overkill and a waste.

Secondly, encoding procedure also affects the quality of your encode.

In the case of converting DVD to AVI, yes.

The higher the bitrate, the larger the filesize will be.

If you really don't care about filesize, choosing the '1-pass, quality-based' setting at 100% quality will give you what you want.

Thank you both for your advice.
I've already converted two dvds and the results were more satisfactory than i expected.
I used dvdx v2.1, super dvd ripper and the divxland bitrate calculator for my experiments.
