    encoder for linux??

ok - i have another pc set up with linux... i need to know
1\an equivalent program to XMPEG/Flask or Gknot for encoding to a divX / Xvid (any type of codec) ... (also a link to download it)

2\an equivalent dvd ripping/decrypting program to 'DVD Decrypter' or 'Smart- Ripper'

#because i am new to linux i am unure of where to find these types of programs are they somewhere around the divx-digest website?

#finally although i have the option of the Wine emulator to do my compression work i figure this would be considerably slower to a native linux application, what are the fps like with linux vs windows encoding with the various divX codecs? (my most often used codecs)

#any help including links, tutorials or online resources would be appreciated

The ripping/encoding tools for linux are not nearly as user friendly as on windows. www.doom9.net has a guide for encoding on linux.

Speedwise it should not make much difference if you use windows or linux, Assuming that you use exactly the same kind of processing.
Donate your idle CPU time for something usefull.
