all my audio codecs are dead... can't use them to encode in windows anymore

the problem first popped up in flaskMPEG 0.594... not saying that's what caused it, but that's when i first noticed it (not a big deal, since i never use my encoders really)...
anyway, when i try to select an audio codec in flask (either 44100 or 48000khz, it matters not) and i click OK (to confirm my codec choice) it doesn't allow me to use it.
when i select anything other than PCM audio it reverts back to PCM and when i do select PCM, it doesn't allow any of the settings...

now i also have this problem in windows itself (tested it with sound recorder), i want to save an audio file and when i select any codec it gives my an error (sorry, can't remember the error anymore).

i've tried the solutions mentioned in Nicky Pages' Digital Solutions (http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/faq.htm), but that didn't help at all...

sys info: i have a soundblaster 64d (onboard)
codecs installed: radium codec (from the divx 3.11 alpha codec)
    divx 5.0.2 pro
    ogg vorbis
and, though i'm not sure it matters, i have nero with the mp3pro codec and i have audiocatalyst with the xing codec installed.
i had lame at some point, but removed it from my system...

thanks a lot for reading so far, and any help help would be greatly appreciated.....!!!!

Sounds like a conflict amongst multiple .MP3 codecs.
    Open your Control Panel
    Select Multimedia
    Select Audio Codecs
Turn off all .MP3 codecs EXCEPT the one with the word "Professional" as part of its name
    Reboot (cold)

    Let us know of your success ;>}

      hehehe
      i knew i forgot something....

i did that already. that left me with fraunhofer's radium codec (prof).
      didn't work.
      still no audio codec usable.
      pcm still crashes flask.
mp3 is still not selectable (reverts to PCM).
oh, and i also tried completely removing all my mp3 codecs from my system, leaving only pcm.
      didn't work either.
then leaving only PCM (disabled) and fraunhofer (prof), didn't work either.

i really have no clue what the **** i did to my system, cause everything else works normally.

right, 'nother thing i forgot... i have nimo codec pack 4.33 installed. think that matters?

anyway, thanks for the semi-prompt reply

" i have nimo codec pack 4.33 installed. think that matters?"

Try uninstalling it, as "blind" installation of full codec packs have led to many problems posted to these forums...

"anyway, thanks for the semi-prompt reply"

        Hopefully, you jest...

thanks for the reply again (semi-prompt. i jest not, sir!)...
already found my problem: the DivX Audio encoder that came with the 3.11 alpa package was causing conflicts.
after removing it Flask worked fine.
Had to kill every last refernce to it in the registry.
