Does anybody know how to merge subtitle files and DivX in just one file?

well...what i use to get the subs is Gknot/nandub, when saving the avs for the 2nd pass, just tell it where the .sub file is (vobsub makes it in the subtitles tab in Gknot), then open the avs in nanbdub, set the options, then save as avi -
Or if you mean you have an avi and a subtitle and you want them in ONE file (because you want to convert it into mpg to burn a vcd) ................then
You have to get the subtitler plugin for Virtual dub
You must convert your srt file into a ssa file
Open Vdub .......audio direct stream
'video ........full processing
filters add subtitler load your ssa
choose a compression
avi save as
et voila
This is it in a nutshell, but read the (very good) tutorials about itComment

Nope
Unless you have a 700 Mb avi and you want a 700Mb avi with subtitles,
......... then you have to lower the data rate, otherwise it will end up with more then 700 Mb and won't fit on one cd.
But if you want to convert it to mpg the higher amount amount of Mb's don't matter, because you will most probebly need two cd's anyway.Comment

To abdul or anyone
i followed ur steps above and it was a success....but one thing i dont understand is the compression
can i skip this step and jump to save as avi?
what i mean is can i just leave it (uncompressed RGB)?
what is the purpose of compression?
By the way, i couldnt find DIVX MPEG 4 codec...i only saw DIVX 5.2.1 codec.Comment

I've also had problems with compression...the video quality becomes very pixelated and jumpy when i choose any compression setting. Why is it necessary to compress a small file anyway when adding subs and why does it become such a big file w/out conpression? In other words, why doesn't the file size stay the same + whatever the sub file size is? I can't even use "no compression" as I don't have anywhere near enough free memory!Comment
