    Join 3 Avi's with AC3 audio

    HELLO!

Could someone please tell me the steps to join 3 avis with AC3 audio?

I have tried in Nandub and the output file does not have any sound when played yet it tells me the sound is being muxed when the dub is in progress. The original files play fine sound and video but the 3 combined with nandub only have video..no sound.

    What have i done wrong?

    Thank you

If you are saying that you have three .AVIs, each of which has a videostream and an .AC3 audsiostream (and they are identical with regard to all video and audio formats/bitrates/resolution, etc.), and they each play properly with both video and audio, then do the following in NanDub:

    1) Open the first video

    2) Append the second video and then the third video

    3) Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy"

    4) Save with a new filename

    Let us know of your success ;>}

Ok. I did this. all files have same res and format. All same audio.
Do i need a ac3 codec to work with nandub?
I still get only video even thou it says its direct stream copying the audio.

Will try again. Thank you for your response. It let me know im on the right track and not going crazy

You haven't advised whether you've successfully played and heard the audio of the three individual files. Have you?

        1) Load the joined .AVI file into VirtualDub or NanDub

        2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

        3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

I said this in my first post. The final product plays video but no audio but when it is processing it says it is doing audio also.

You have tried playing back the joined video (which, according to the "File Information", DOES include an audiostream) with something OTHER THAN NanDub - such as WinDVD - haven't you?

I just experimented by joining 3 .AVIs with .AC3 audiostreams (once with NanDub and once with VirtualDub) - and the joined files palyed back perfectly, including audio.

Interestingly, the only description for an .AC3 audiostream I've ever seen under either VirtualDub's or NanDub's "File Information" is "Unknown(tag2000)", while your screen grab indicates "Dolby Digital AC3". Perhaps this is where your problem lies...

What version of NanDub are you using?

(Just curious - Do the .AC3 streams contain more than one language?)
